The University Hospitality department isn't just about student catering. We have several outlets on campus all serving high quality food and drink options. As well as catering to students, we host large conferences and banquets. Our customers are as diverse as our food. 

About you:

The successful candidate will have experience of striving for excellent standards of customer service and of providing team members with operational training. You will have significant front of house hospitality management experience and demonstrate the ability to effectively lead and motivate team members. You will have knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and licencing laws and experience in financial, budgetary and variance reporting.  You should also have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.

  • Manage the front of house operations in your area of responsibility and ensure that excellent customer service is delivered at all times.
  • Ensure that procedures regarding financial control, Health and Safety, Licencing Law, HACCP and staffing are carried out within University guidelines.
  • Maintain customer care and service standards and have an awareness of product knowledge and merchandising.
  • Work with the Hospitality management team and undertake training to deliver projects that will develop food & beverage offering, management and customer service.

Flexibility is important and the role includes early morning, evening and weekend working on a 5 out of 7 days per week contract (36.5 hours per week).

We have an exciting opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join the University Hospitality Department.

The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of food and drink options.

The role includes early morning, evening and weekend working on a 5 out of 7 days per week contract (36.5 hours per week). The hours are predominantly but not exclusively day tine shifts throughout the University term time with an increased requirement for evening shifts through the summer. This contract is for 42 weeks per year with typical non-working weeks being at Christmas, Easter and August. 

About you:

You will have a proactive, can-do attitude and serve as a valuable team player, supporting a variety of tasks and responsibilities throughout your shift. With a positive mindset and a flexible approach, you will effectively manage high-pressure situations and adapt to shifting priorities. You will be capable of working independently, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. You will provide an excellent standard of customer service.

This kitchen porter role will be supporting the food outlets on campus with the below:

  • delivering and receiving stock
  • maintaining excellent hygiene standards
  • operating dishwashers
  • carrying out daily cleaning of kitchen equipment, cutlery and crockery
  • setting up tables and furniture.

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Commis Chefs to support a team of chefs with the production of high quality food, ensuring cleanliness and health and safety standards are met. 

The roles is mainly, but not exclusively daytime shifts throughout the University term time, with the need for evening shifts during the summer months. The role is 36.5 hours per week on a 5 out of 7 basis. The role is contracted to work 42 weeks across the year with typical non-working weeks at Christmas, Easter and August. 

About you:

Demonstrating a passion for cooking high quality food, you will have previous experience of working as a junior chef. An NVQ in Food Preparation would be a distinct advantage. You should be comfortable with working in high pressure environments and have a positive attitude, demonstrating an ability to form effective working relationships with other team members.

About the role:

Join our vibrant West Hospitality team at the ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ as a Hospitality Supervisor. We provide a dynamic hospitality service delivering catering for meetings, events, and conferences across the University campus.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, ensuring all deliveries are prepared and dispatched on time to multiple campus locations throughout the day. You’ll supervise and work as part of a team to deliver outstanding service and maintain high standards. Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do, and the supervisor plays a key role in driving the success of the service.

Duties include: training team members, rota management, adhering to financial regulations and health and safety/food hygiene standards, opening and closing shifts, setting up and providing a first class service for catering events and functions. 

The role will be supported by junior staff who you will supervise and guide as well as by on-site managers who will promote your own personal development and growth. Full role details are included in the job description.

The term time role is 30 hours per week, working 42 weeks of the year. Typical non-working weeks would be based around Christmas, Easter and August.

About you:

The successful candidate will have experience of supervising and excellent standards of customer service in a customer focused environment. You will have experience in providing team members with operational training. You will have knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations, licensing laws and work well as part of a team. You will need to demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure, as it can be extremely busy over peak periods.
