The UKRI Turing AI Acceleration Fellowship Project and related neurotechnology research at the ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ, led by Professor Damien Coyle, aims to develop next-generation AI methods to translate electrophysiological signals into control signals for brain–computer interface (BCI) technologies. These advances will be trialled at scale with end-users, driving the development of robust, wearable neurotechnologies.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a researcher with expertise in neural signal processing and AI/machine learning for the analysis, classification, and decoding of high-resolution electroencephalography (EEG).

Working with Prof Coyle and the Turing AI Fellowship team at the ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Institute for the Augmented Human, the Research Associate will:-

<![CDATA[Research Assistant (ED13121)]]> /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=ED13121 /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=ED13121 This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly developed ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ Mental Health Research Group (MHRG) at the ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ.

About us

The MHRG is funded for an initial 5 years by the NIHR (National Institute for Health Research).

The focus of our work is applied research aimed at improving health and wellbeing of children and young people aged 12-25 in the local region.

The work of the centre will be guided by our lived experience advisory panels and stakeholder groups.

About the role

We are looking to recruit people who enjoy working as part of a team, value inter-disciplinary research and engagement with diverse stakeholders.

We are looking to appoint a Research Assistant who can support data collection, analysis and dissemination on pilot interventional studies conducted across different research themes in the MHRG.

This will focus on 1) digital interventions for common mental health difficulties and 2) low-stigma interventions to modify risk factors for young people exposed to adverse childhood experiences.

An undergraduate degree (e.g. BA, BSc) in a relevant subject is essential.

Previous experience of research on the topic of children and young people’s mental health is desirable, but not essential as we primarily wish to recruit people with commitment and enthusiasm to the topic area, and relevant research skills. Experience of administering standardised assessment tools, physiological stress measures (e.g. cortisol) or wearables (e.g. actigraphs) would similarly be desirable but not essential, as full training in all methods would be provided.

Additional information

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Pamela Jacobsen (pcj25@bath.ac.uk) or Jeffrey Lambert (jl2426@bath.ac.uk).

As a member of Research Staff at the ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year. We have a clear commitment to skills training and career development for all research staff working in the MHRG. You will have the opportunity to work under the supervision of world-leading clinicians and academics. The ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ MHRG is partnering with the Universities of Bristol and Exeter (as part of the GW4 network) to deliver this project and there will be ample opportunities to work with researchers at our partner institutions.

Due to the requirements of the post, regular in-person attendance at the ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ is required.

Some team members will be expected to travel to undertake research activities in the local area of ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ and North-East Somerset, Swindon, and Wiltshire. This post is therefore not suitable for someone looking for a remote position.

We truly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds will lead to a better environment for our employees and students and encourage applications from all genders, backgrounds, and communities, particularly from under-represented groups, and value the positive impact that will have on the university.
